SAP BusinessObjects EPM产品的前世今生

SAP虽然把很多产品都冠以BO的商标,但是其实这并非说所有的产品都是从BO收购来的。SAP只是在整合。

1. 最重磅的SAP BPC
OutlookSoft Corporation was a Stamford, Connecticut based software company with products for business performance management including planning, consolidation, forecasting, budgeting, dashboards, predictive analytics and reporting. Along with OutlookSoft, other vendors in the performance management space include SAS, Cognos and Business Objects.

In 2006, OutlookSoft was named in the top 25% in Deloitte's Technology Fast 500[1] and in the same year, was sued by competitor, Hyperion, over software patents, winning a dismissal in October 2006 as the jury found no patent infringement and subsequently ruled the patents ineligible for claim.[2] In June 2007, OutlookSoft was acquired by SAP AG as a part of SAP's strategy to challenge Oracle Corporation.[3] Although the purchase price was never disclosed, estimates placed it between $200 and $400 million.[4]

OutlookSoft's largest product was revamped as SAP BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation) after acquisition by SAP AG.

注:原来SAP的BI-BPS已经被SAP BI-IP替代。而SAP BI-IP还会持续开发。未来的roadmap是让BPC可以更加好的运行于SAP BW之上。

 

2. Strategy Management(SAP SSM)

收购自Pilot Works。将会替代收购的BusinessObjects中的Performance Management。

SAP Business Objects implements strategy management and Enterprise Performance Management mainly through the following two products: SAP Strategy Manager (SSM) and Business Objects Performance Manager (PM) and also with Cartesis for financial dashboards and scorecards and XCelsius for interactive dashboards based on rather small data volumes.
Basically, the SAP roadmap shows that SAP Strategy Management (formerly known as Pilot Works) will be the replacement for the BusinessObjects Performance Management module.

 

 3.  SAP Business Profitablity Management by Acorn

从名字就知道是SAP利用了Acorn公司的BPM产品,紧密的结合进行resell而已。

 

4. SAP Financial Consolidation

收购自Cartesis

 

Oracle收购的Hyperion本身的产品线就是经过了各种收购而来。而Hyperion整合进ORACLE收购的peoplesoft sieble加上自己的EBS,我想这是一个浩大的工程。这也应该是SAP为什么一直强调自身发展,而非收购。对于客户来说,提供完全不相关的产品打包成的solution,真是场噩梦。可是SAP在CPM领域实在不擅长,无论它在ERP领域多擅长。就像INTEL在GPU方面落后一样。所以,收购成为最后的选择。让我们拭目以待SAP的整合能力吧,毕竟大宗的收购(BusinessObject  Sybase)目前还都很成功。
