Week 4 Summary:
- 最低层次的沟通(低信任+低合作)只会产生输/赢(win/lose)或者双输(lose/lose)的结果,这不是我们所乐见的;
- 中等层次的沟通是基于彼此尊重避免冲突的交流方式,倾向于采取妥协的态度,即1+1=1.5,各有得失,只能说是双赢的低级形式(low form of win/win);
English Summary:
Habit 6 "synergy" is defined as the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The essence of synergy it to value differences between people from the mental, the emotional, and the psychological aspects. And the key to valuing those differences is to realize that all people see the world, not as it is, but as they are. Therefore, thinking win/win can help us to find a synergistic third alternative.
Habit 7 talks about taking time to sharpen the saw, which means that we should renew four dimensions of our nature - physical, spiritual, mental and social/emotional.
- physical dimension: involves caring effectively for our physical body-eating the right kinds of foods, getting sufficient rest and relaxation, and exercising on a regular basis.
- spiritual dimension: provides leadership to our life. It’s commitment to our value system. It can be practiced and renewed through "four prescriptions", which are "listen carefully", "try reaching back", "examine our motives" and "write our worries on the sand".
- mental dimension: mainly renewed by education, including formal and continuing education etc. Besides, reading, writing, organizing and planning can also represent other forms of mental renewal.
- social/emotional dimension: centered on the principles of interpersonal leadership, empathic communication, and creative cooperation.
