Check thoroughly

You can serve the Lord. ---Joshua24:19

Do you have any reliance on anything but God? Is there still a residual reliance on natural virtues and environmental actors? What else do you depend on yourself for in this new purpose? That’s what “check thoroughly” means. Yes, you can say, “I can’t live a holy life.” It’s true. But you can decide to let Jesus sanctify you. “You can’t serve the Lord.” But you can let God’s power work through you. Is your relationship with God so good and harmonious that he can reveal his wonderful life in you?

“We will serve the Lord.” It was not an impulse, but a determined delivery. You would say, “God never called me to do this. I am too unworthy to be spoken of.” It is you, and the weaker you are, the more fit you are. A man who is still confident will not say, “I am determined to serve the Lord.” We often say, “If only I could believe!” But the question is “If only I could believe it”. No wonder Jesus Christ stressed the sin of unbelief. And he did not do many miracles there, because of their unbelief. What would we be if we believed God’s word? Am I truly willing to let God become a God in me who does what he says?

Dear God, your face, your touch and your blessing are what I seek today. Move me, God, until every part of me is shocked and uplifted by your peace of grace and power.
