Experiments have proved that children can be instructed in swimming at a very early
age. At a special swimming pool in Los Angeles, children who even can not walk have
been trained to be strong swimmers. Babies of two months old who at first took no
interest in swimming soon have acquired to dive into water and pick up weights from
the floor of the pool. These young swimmers are crazy about the underwater tricycle
race. In this race, tricycles are lined up on the floor of the pool seven feet under water. The children have to ride the tricycle to reach the other end of the pool. However, most of children would complete the race by pushing the tricycles rather dragging them.
Some children have learned to cover the whole of length of the pool while holding their
breath. It is the time that will decide whether they will ever become future Olympic
chanpions. Meanwhile, they should encourage those among us who cannot swim five
yards before they are gasping for air.
