How to debug Web Services or .Net Remoting Components hosted in IIS in Windows 2003 Server

 

 

The previous article, Application Logger Based on .Net Remoting, provides you how to debug .Net Remoting components in Windows 2000. We know ASP/ASP.Net worker process is aspnet_wp.exe running under the ASPNET account.

 

However, now in Windows 2003 it is w3wp.exe, which is being run under the NETWORK SERVICE account. In VS.NET you go to Debug\Processes and select w3wp.exe process to attach to. Then set your breakpoint and you are ready to go.

 

It’s helpful for you to debug web services or .Net Remoting components when you know the correct worker process of different windows systems.
