CMP Restrictions in BIG-IP version 9.4.0 through 9.6.1:
Technorati 标签: cmp, v9, v10, f5, ltm, Restrictions
CMP is not compatible with certain BIG-IP system configurations. If one of the following configurations exist, CMP will be disabled:
①,The BIG-IP system is running BIG-IP ASM and/or the BIG-IP WebAccelerator module.
Note: CMP disabled when running BIG-IP ASM and/or BIG-IP WebAccelerator only affects BIG-IP version 9.4.0 - 9.4.8, BIG-IP version 9.6.0 and 9.6.1 only supports BIG-IP LTM.
Note: For more information, refer to SOL8227: The BIG-IP system modifies the client source port for certain virtual server connections when CMP is enabled.
If a virtual server references any of the following BIG-IP system features, CMP is disabled for that virtual server and handled by TMM0 only:
②,A rate class
③,iRules global variables
④,A persistence profile or iRule using a method other than cookie persistence
Note: Cookie persistence methods are exempt from CMP demotion since they are the only methods which do not store information in memory; instead, they write persistence information to a cookie that is then read each time the client sends the cookie back in a subsequent request.
Note: The BIG-IP VIPRION introduced CMP Persistence in version 9.6. CMP Persistence adds support for session persistence mirroring when TMM is running in CMP mode. Persistence mirroring is a mode of operation where the VIPRION system mirrors persistence records to other blades in the same cluster, or to the other cluster in a redundant system.
⑤,Traffic Management Operating System (TMOS) plug-ins
⑥,An SSL profile is referenced, but SSL CMP is not licensed for the system
Note: SSL CMP is a licensed module that allows SSL acceleration with CMP-enabled virtual servers. SSL CMP is enabled by default when the system is licensed for 30000 TPS or greater. To determine if your system is licensed for SSL CMP, you can review the license information located under System >> License for one of the following entries in the Active Modules section:
  ADD SSL CMP
Add SSL 30000 TPS <- This option automatically enables SSL CMP
Note: The BIGIP 1600, 3600, 3900, 6900, 8900, and VIPRION running BIG-IP version 10.0.0 automatically have SSL CMP enabled. These platforms include a base of 500 TPS per core.
⑦,HTTP profile with Compression enabled, and the system is not licensed for maximum/unlimited compression for system containing a hardware compression card or licensed for limited software compression only, is associated with a virtual server。
BIG-IP version 10.0.0 and later enhancements
Beginning with BIG-IP version 10.0.0, the following enhancements were introduced:
①,Support for CMP was introduced to the BIG-IP 6400 and 6800 platforms
②,CMP remains enabled when running BIG-IP system modules such as Application Security Manager and WebAccelerator
③,CMP supports the use of all persistence options
④,CMP supports the use of read-only global variables within iRules
⑤,CMP supports both limited software compression and limited hardware compression
Verifying whether CMP is enabled or disabled for a specific virtual server
To verify whether CMP is enabled or disabled for a specific virtual server, type the following command:
bigpipe virtual <virtual_server_name> cmp show
