The Importance of Discussion(Writing)

Today I will focus on whether the phychology is from the philosophy.If your major is related to education,you must know it is true that phychology of its two sides.

Thorndike had deviated from the tradition of compatible education thoughts by the grandfathers of educational psychology such as James and Dewey , while he was trying to explore the scientific educational psychology.His thought turned from concerning real interest in school educational issues to looking down upon school educational practice, giving rise to a kind of arrogance of psychologist toward education. Meanwhile,there had been two kinds of contrary opinions inside the educational psychology. One was to regard educational psychology as an application field of normal psychology research, which was the extension of experimental psychology in the educational field ; the other was to regard educational psychology as the scientific research of human behavior in the educational context ,which was an independent application discipline. The disagreement of the two opinions in the educational psychology field was the opposition of two kinds of scientific values in its essence, reflecting the opposition of the two cultures of scientism and humanism in psychology. The recent evidence based practice arising in psychology and pedagogy has offered selective ways to surpass the disagreement of the two kinds of educational psychology in the level of methodology.

Educational psychology has encountered the challenges of the postmodernism since the 1990s.In terms of ontology , post-modernism challenging the realism tendency of traditional educational psychology advocates that psychology is a kind of social construction.In terms of epistemology, postmodernism challenging traditional know ledge exogenous theory and endogenous theory advocates that knowledge is the result of social interaction and consultation ;and education and teaching are both the course of know ledge const ruction.In terms of methodology, the postmodernism challenging the traditional empirical and quantitative methods advocates the combination of qualitative research and quantitative research, and promotes educational psychology to realize method diversification.The challenge of postodernism is helpful to overcome the wrong tendency of traditional educational psychology such as mechanical materialism theory,individualism and methodentered theory , etc.
