The preacher’s watch

Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. ---- Matthew26:40

“Keep watch with me” ---- He has no private thoughts of his own, but only watches with the Lord. In the beginning, we will not watch with him, but for him. We don’t know how to watch with him through the Holy Bible’s revelations and the circumstances of our lives. The Lord has always wanted to use a particular Gethsemane to bring us to the experience of being with him, but we refused to go. We said, “No, Lord, I don’t see any benefit in it. It’s too bitter.” How can we be alert for an elusive object? If we do not know the purpose of his sufferings, how can we know Jesus well enough to watch with in Gethsemane? We do not know how to watch with him at all, but are used to the idea that he watches with us. We don’t know how to watch with him at all, but are used to the idea that he watched with us. The disciples loved Jesus to the limit of their natural instincts because they did not understand what he was doing. In the garden of Gethsemane they fell asleep because of sorrow. At the end of three years of intimacy, they both deserted him and ran away.

“They were all filled with the holy spirit.” The same “they”, but wonderful things happen, which was the death and resurrection and ascension of the Lord, and the disciples being filled with the Holy spirit. The Lord has said, “when the holy spirit comes upon you, you will receive power”, which is to watch with the Lord together until their life ended.
