On writing well

在The Elements of Style中，E.B. White说"I have been trying to omit needless words since 1919, and although there are still many words that cry for omission and the huge task will never be accomplished, it is exciting to me to reread the masterly Strunkian elaboration of this noble theme.

Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unneccessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts. This requires not that the writer make all sentences short or avoid all detail and treat subjuscts only in outline, but that every word tell.

concise，simplicity都不是说句子一定要短，而是要清楚，要让every word tell。如果这个词没有什么用，就删掉吧。
