1. altruism

willingness to do things that bring advantages to others even if it results in disadvantage for yourself.

e.g. She's not known for her altruism.

2. arise

to happen.

e.g. Should the opportunity arise, I'd love to go to China.

3. distress

a feeling of extreme worry, sadness, or pain.

e.g. She claimed that the way she had been treated at work had caused her extreme emotional and psychological distress.
