After his doctor refused to tell him about his operation, Jonh Gilbert asked for a bedside telephone on the following day. When he was alone, he telephoned the hospital
exchange and asked for Dr. Millington. Dr. Millington told him that Mr. Gibert not only
had survived the operation but also would have to stay in hospital for another two
weeks. Dr. Millington also considered the caller to be a relative of Mr. Gibert. But the
caller told Dr. Millington that he was Mr. Gibert himself.
