My first impression of oak tree is giant and towering. It can grow to 40meters, so majestic that it equal to  10-layer building. The average life span of oak tree is 600 years,thus been seen as the symbol of long life. How do we know the age of a oak tree? From the growth rings, as we account the number of rings, they are representing how old the tree is. Oak tree enjoyes the reputation of the undisputed king in the western world.

Oak trees are loosely divided into two groups, red oaks and white oaks. All of oak tree bloom in spring. The trees produce both male and female flowers, which means they self-pollinate. Male oak tree flowers hang to the twigs while female flowers are hidden among leaves. Oak tree leaves are special, one leaf to stem, on alternating sides of the twig. Oak tree acorn, which is world-famous for the image of "ice age", has dark strips along the length and flat-scales caps.

Oak trees grow in any places where there is sufficient water in the soil. The trunk is strong and grows straight upward. The top of the trees widen with branches,usually cloudin the air. The wood from oak tree is strong and rotting-resistant, widerly used in construction,buildings, furniture and traditional ship-buildings.

Oak's doctor is woodpecker, who drill holes in the tree with their bralks as they look for insects.

Oak tree roots grow side sways to form a deep and broad root system to provide enough nutrition for the trunk, twigs, leaves, butts and flowers.
