《Everyone Communicates》Reading-Notes ( Connectors do the different work of keeping it simple )

When I first saw this title, I could not out my attention from it. Yes, mostly we read book very hard, because we cannot understand the meaning of some main-part sentences. Eventhough I said in other Reading-notes, when we cannot understand it well, let's skip it, do not waste time on that. But I TRUE believe there are seldom people do skip that. Mostly we want to get the accurate meaning. So how about when we communicate with each others? Why do we use simple words? Why do we make the coversation simply understand? After I look through this chapter, I got the key which is simple.

The measure of a great teacher isn't what he or she knows; it's what the students know.

When we communicate with other, what is our purpose? Give them a lesson? Tell them what do we think? Discuss something? I always meet some teachers, they speak everything like a lesson which is very hard to understand. Obviously, they have the ability say it simple, but they usually don't. One of my friends, he is an international coach, when you stay with him, you feel very confortable, because no matter you are teenagers, or kids, or advanced workers. He can always make a communication simply.

To be simple is to be great.

We don't need to show our talent to them, right? We want to connect with them, right? So when we want to show we know many things more than others, or tell others that we are smarter than them. They must not understand us clearly and immidiatly. However, when we let our partner got our purpose simply, that's quiet useful.

There are three "S" strategies. Keep it SIMPLE, say it SLOWLY, and have a SMILE. Yes! When we can not do the first two "S", only give us your big smile also good!

Simplicity for us is an art. When we say somthing simple, not only we feel confortable, but also the speaker will get more relaxe.

There are five tips to help you say it simple.

#1 Talk to people, not about them. What the meaning for this college,

All good communicators get to the point before their listeners start asking, "What's the point?"

#2 Get to the point.

The first time you say something, it is heard. The second time, it's recognized. The third time, it's learned.

#3 Say something over and over again.

Have an understanding so there won't be a misunderstanding.

#4 Say it clearly.

In the end, people are persuaded not by what we say, but by what they understand.

#5 Say less.
