京剧系列：

中国传统戏曲的脸谱，是演员面部化妆的一种程式。

它的演变和发展，不是某个人凭空臆造的产物，而是戏曲艺术家们在长期艺术实践中，对生活现象的观察、体验和综合，以及对剧中角色的不断分析判断、作出评价，最终逐步形成了一整套完整的艺术手法。

具有“寓褒贬、别善恶”的艺术功能，使观众能目视外表，窥其心胸，从而被誉为角色“心灵的画面”。

Chinese opera, especially Peking Opera is regarded one of the cultural treasures of China. A large and distinct part of Chinese opera is the elaborate facial painting on the performers. Face painting is considered an art form and the facial designs have its origination from ancient Chinese folk art designs, folklore and mythological characters.

The various facial designs depict personality, are for decorative purposes, moods or are pictographs of specific characters. The completed facial designs are much more than mere paintings – they tell us a story. It leads us gradually into the role of the character and makes their world come alive to us, evoking emotions and memories.
