Marijuana’s legalization makes it harm youngers health more easily

Nearby, some States of the US have tended to make marijuana be legal based on a misconception that it cannot hurt anybody. But it can raise addiction, especially in teens according to research. A girl patient who was 18-year-old dropped out of school, fired from jobs, and stole money from parents caused by the addiction to marijuana. Obviously, the society is not prepared for the fallout of marijuana legalization.

However, money talks.  The States that have legalized the drug can increase $1 billion in tax revenue for one year and it would produce 1 million jobs in all 50 states by 2025 . Teen marijuana use went up significantly last year as a result of that they believe pot isn’t dangerous. The public perception now has already not as tough as the way people used to feel about tobacco which can cause cancer, heart disease, and other health problems.  To bring balance, scientists explored the differences in the brain’s reward system between users and non-users. The research shows that teens who smoked pot had significant abnormalities in the areas of the brain linked to emotion ,motivation, and decision making.  What’s more, the main ingredient in marijuana, THC, has been more concentrated today, which can rewire the whole cognitive system, throwing off its finely tuned balance.  The results maybe the reason why visits to emergency rooms and urgent care centers have increased highly among those under 21 who are more likely to drive under influence of cannabis since the drug was legalized in Colorado.

It’s worth bearing in mind that it was science that prevented nearly 800,000 cancer deaths from Big Tobacco in the US during 25 years. No matter the drug should be legal, we must be cautious that it can harm health, especially among teens when societal shifts.
