Day 12 Habit 4: Think Win-Win TM -- Principles of Interpersonal Leadership

1. Words and phrases

1) At the end of the track was a beautiful travel poster of Bermuda, an idyllic picture of blue skies and fleecy clouds and a romantic couple walking hand in hand down a white sandy beach.

idyllic: 田园诗般的; 牧歌的; 质朴宜人的; 平和欢畅的;

fleecy:(像羊毛般) 毛茸茸的;

仿写: Marriage is not idyllic as we expected.

    The fleecy clouds look like a rabbit.

2) Whether you are the president of a company or the janitor, the moment you step from independence into interdependence in any capacity, you step into a leadership role.

janitor: 看门人; 看管房屋的人; 锅炉工;

仿写: The janitor comes around at 11:00pm and turn off our dormitory’s room light.

3) Most people tend to think in terms of dichotomies: strong or weak, hardball or softball, win or lose.

Dichotomy: 一分成二,对分

仿写: Everything should be seen in dichotomy, while you find the good side, there is always bad side exist.

4) And the win-lose mentality is dysfunctional to that cooperation

Dysfunctional: 功能失调的;

2. Thoughts

Habit 4:think win-win

我们大多数人都把自我的价值建立在与别人的对比和竞争之上,有人成功了必定就有人失败,也就是说,如果我赢了你就输了,或者你赢了我就输了,但是其实生活并不是一场比赛。Win-Win的概念是把生活看作是一个合作的舞台而不是一个充满竞争的场所。Win-Win是指要有这样的意向和决心:在所有人与人之间的交往中达到一个共赢的局面。Win-Win是指解决的方案和协议是互利并且双方同意的。

这个观念我特别赞成,在外贸这一行业呆了这么多年,从来都是只有win-win才能赢得一个更长久的合作。
