Show Your Empathy But Not Sympathy

Considering that I'm not yet able to have that good of a job here in AU with a decent salary and impressive benefits, I'm trying to save some pocket money for potential use. To achieve it, I tend to take bus pulling a small trolley to a far-away Chinese community every two weeks and purchase certain necessary groceries for the coming days. When faced with kind of temporary food shortage, I'd visit a nearby supermarket and have a look at their special offers, like those slightly stale but still eatable vegetables and fruits. Believe it or not, it's really a good deal!

What happened today just made me feel so warm in my heart. As usual, I rushed into this store after work to grab a bottle of milk and glanced at their specials section before their closing time. Look what I found, lovely snow peas, with which I could make a yummy meal! Just before I took them to the cashier, an employee, to whom I said Hello a moment ago stopped me and took the small package out of my hands. What the what? He took out a marker to write something on the package cover and handed it back to me, which turned out to be a double discounting marking... So nice a guy with a big smile!

Actually what we need in our lives is more of empathy but not sympathy. It's like when you find yourself trapped somewhere and there's someone who accompanies you there and says quietly: "I know how it feels like and you're not alone."  THANK YOU~
