Mass Waste of Wrapping Materials
There are six types of packages in China's expressdelivery industry: express delivery waybill, plastic woven bag, plasticbag, envelope, cardboard box and adhesive tape.
According to the State Post Bureau, Chinese express companies used a total of almost 14.5 million meters of adhesive tape in 2014. That’s enough to encircle the earth’s equator 286 times. In 2015, it turned into a total of almost 17 million meters, which is enough to encircle the earth’s equator 425 times.
In 2016, about 330 million roll of adhesive tapes were used. Based on the average length of 100 meters, it was about 33 million meters of adhesive tapes were used.
