Senior Program Manager_ Azure IoT Tooling

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a revolutionary technological change that is digitizing the physical world. This change represents a massive opportunity for Microsoft! According to IDC, there will be over 20 billion connected devices and $1.7 trillion in global IoT revenue by 2020. Underpinned by strong government support (including large scale investments in education), substantial private investment and an existing powerbase of HW and SW development expertise, China is well positioned to achieve a commanding lead in the IoT. Our DevDiv China team is charted and well positioned to deliver a first-class development experience for IoT developers on Azure. By providing differentiated developer tools story for both global and China developers, we want to enable seamless adoption of Azure IoT services and enhance developer engagement.   

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven, experienced Program Manager to help us drive our strategy in IoT tooling. We are looking for someone with needed skills to conduct customer development, evaluate competitor offering, identify requirements, design best-of-breed product and user experience with the following responsibilities and qualifications:

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the vision and approach of user-friendly, state-of-the-art development tools to provide world-class developing experience on Azure IoT platform

• Obsess about what IoT developers want to do with platform, and provide insight with relevant customer evidence and developer perspective to platform team

• Work with customers and partner teams to identify feature requirements, assess priorities and define high quality feature specifications

• Drive cross team, E2E scenarios and customer experiences

• Define and own quantitative metrics for your feature area.

• Work with the analytics team to nail the implementation of the metrics required to understand progress toward our goals.

• Work and communicate effectively with our global partners and customers

Qualifications

• 8+ years of technical program management experience shipping products/services

• Strong technical background and solid foundation in software engineering principles

• Outstanding feature design skills

• Experience in shipping software product on a rapid release cadence

• Experience or knowledge on modern cloud technologies 

• Ability to lead and motivate a team without authority

• Strong core competencies for program management: customer empathy, drive for results, cross-group collaboration, negotiation and conflict management, project management, and specification writing

• BS or MS in computer science/EE/Automation or related disciplines

• Experience with Internet of Things or mobile service development is a plus

• Experience with direct customer acquisition and engagement is a plus
