(TDC Notes:15-02) What the Name of the Book Means

Meaning of the title of The Diamond Cutter

The title of The Diamond Cutter itself covers a great secret wisdom. The most important words here is the Diamond. Diamonds represents a hidden potential in all things, in the ancient Tibetan way. it's usually called "Emptiness". It's a key to achieve business and personal life success once people recognized that potential.

Diamonds represents a hidden potential

It introduced 3 important ways to contain the hidden potential in all things resembles a diamond.

Pure diamond is the closet thing to an absolute clear physical substance.

We usually rate a totally colorless diamond as 'D-color' grade. It's totally pure and clear, for example, if there is a wall of diamond several feet wide between you and another person, and if no light were reflecting from its surface, you couldn't see the diamond at all. The hidden potential for success found in The Diamond Cutter is just like the wall of diamond. It's all around us, at all times, every object and person around us contains this potential, but it is invisible to us. In fact, this potetial could lead to certain personal and business success.

Diamond is the hardest physical substance in the universe

Nothing exists can scratch a diamond, except another diamond. Diamond itself can only scratch other diamonds when the diamond being scrached has a 'soft' direction.

The hidden potential that we talked about is something truly absolute, no physical thing can be. It is the highest nature that a thing can have, it is the absolute truth of every person and object. The hardness of diamond is in nature the closet that any single object in the universe can come to an absolute: It has the greatest hardness there is.

Diamond exists the same stuff as every other one - 100% diamond

Every diamond, everywhere, is made of the same simple carbon bonded together in the same atomic stucture.

The hidden potential is as pure, as absolute a reality, as every other instance

Why does the name of book have the word "diamond"? Diamonds are perfectly clear, almost invisible, and the hidden potential of everything around us is just as hard to see. They come very close to being something which is absolute - the hardest thing there is - and the hidden potential in things is their pure and absolute truth. Every sliver of diamond that exists anywhere in the universe is exactly the same stuff as every other - pure 100 percent diamond.

Two ways to see the hidden potential or ultimate nature

One way is to "see" this nature by reading explanations about it such as the one found in this book and thingking hard about the explanation until you understand the potendtial and can use it.

The other way is to go into a deep state of mediation, and "see" the potential this time directly, in your mind's eye. It is much more powerful.

The Diamond Cutter teachs about a kind of potential which is even more ultimate than the diamond, the hardest thing, the closet thing to an ultimate in the normal world around us.
