end up v.

释义: to finally be in a particular place or  situation

“end up”是个动词词组,意思是“到头来”“最终”,常用来表示某人某物的结局或者最终状态,是口语和写作中都非常高频实用的表达。
end up 的用法很灵活,可接分词、形容词、介词短语,也可直接接名词(有时会加 as)。

例① 你的飞机晚点,你最后只能在机场里过夜。

My flight was delayed, so I ended up spending the night at the airport.(end up 后接现在分词,这种用法最常见) 

例② 吴秀波控诉他的前情人敲诈勒索,如果罪名成立,他的情妇最终可能会坐十年牢。

If convicted of extortion, Wu Xiubo’s  former mistress might end up in prison  for 10 years. (end up 后接介词短语)
