Whether class discussion is good

     Nowadays, the discussion in the class gradually decreases, replaced by teachers' lectures and other activities in the class, but interaction in the class is really such a bad thing that students can't show their opinions? I am firmly convinced that communication is absolutely necessary and essential. 

    First of all, solving problems is one of the major parts of class discussion. There are so many students in the class, if they all have the same question, and no more discussion is conducted in the class, they should ask the teacher respectively. If the teacher held a class discussion, then he or she only needs to answer once. That will save lots of time and the students will learn more from the teacher, isn’t that a good thing for both students or teachers? Obvious the answer is it is a good thing for both students and teachers.

     Additionally, communication between students can increase the friendship among the students. Friendship is also an important thing for students. They can communicate with each other, and study the advantages of the others. For example, at first, it is likely that  two students may have some conflicts, but after some coorporation, they even can be friends. That’s why friendship is an important thing that discussion brings us. Friendship can’t be broken for the students.

     Last but not least, the energetic atmosphere may inspire and stimulate the thirst of knowledge from students. A good atmosphere may affect the bad lazy students, even let them become more diligent. The teacher, however, will teach more to them, so that teachers and the students can get benefit from the class. So all in all we will both benefit from the teacher’s learning. 

     However, class discussion hasn’t be always good. Sometimes, there will be some students who do not preview the readings or something else,  affecting the quality of other students. For example, Tom, a bad student who did not preview the materials that will be needed in the class discussion, will affect the quality, if he makes some noise in the class, the teacher will then need to criticize him. So the quality will be decreased. 

     All in all, I am firmly convinced that there are a lot of advantages of class discussion, although it has a little bit disadvantages.
