Baoshan plans long-distance bus station

A NEW long-distance bus station will be built in Baoshan District, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.

The station will have a daily capacity of 400 buses and mainly service destinations in Jiangsu Province. Some routes will go to Anhui, Shandong, Henan and Zhejiang provinces.

The station is planned at the intersection of Hutai Road and Jiangchang Road West, according to the Baoshan government.

The station will be linked to the city's subway network on Line 7.

The hub will be developed in two phases – the western and eastern.

The western part will include a commercial center, said the report. .

Long-distance bus stations will help ease traffic tension during the three Golden Week holidays when railways are swamped with large crowds.

Shanghai already has four major bus hubs, the south bus station, the north-square station, Pudong bus station and one in the Xujiahui area.
