wake n.

释义：used to say what happens after and often as a result of something

wake 作为名词可以表示航行中船只留下的尾流、航迹，因此引申出一个表达 in the wake of 表示“随着…而来” “作为…的结果”。当我们想表示 after 或者 as a result of 时，很多时候也可以用 in the wake of 替换。
