剧院里正在演出，一个观众起身顺着座位排出来去了休息室。几分钟后，他返回，问坐在这一排排头的那个人：

“抱歉，我刚才出去的时候是不是踩了您的脚？”

“哦，没事儿，没事儿，根本不疼。”

“哦，不是这样的不是那个意思。我只是想确定，这是不是我坐的那一排。”

To be on the safe side

In a theater during a performance  one of the audience gets up,  Makes his way along the row of seats and goes into the foyer.  A few minutes later he returned,  and asks  the man  sitting at the head of the row:

" Excuse me. Is it your foot  I stepped on when I was going out a moment ago?"

" Oh no, it doesn't matter. It didn't hurt at all."

" Oh no isn't that I only wanted to make sure  this is my row."
