今天学习的单词是last，看到last首先想到的是做形容词表示“最后的”，做动词表示“持续”，此次再次学习以加深印象。

last英英释义“ to continue to existing or happening”。last后面仅加名词，例句：The housing boom will not last（房产的繁荣景象不会持续）. The meeting lasted two hours. They say the snow will last until the end of next week.

 last另一层英英释义“to continue being good or suitable”. 例句：The cheaper washing machines should last about five years. 

last做持续的含义，可用来替换“continue”，它的主语一般是一个事件、情形、问题。Justin在写“瑞幸咖啡”的随笔中，写到“But the question is, will the momentum last?”。《经济学人》中单田芳先生讣告一文中写到有个节目从2005年开始每天播放一集单先生评书，他的作品多到可以放到2036年，即“At an episode a day, the stock would last until 2036.”。《圣经》中也写到“Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love.”
