Microsoft launched Hololens 2
Microsoft officially announced the HoloLens 2, its next-generation holographic headset,it will cost $US3,500, and be available to business customers later this year.
This new iteration is a pair of goggles that projects digital imagery over the real world – a technology that Microsoft calls mixed reality. First and foremost, the HoloLens 2 doubles the viewing area, alleviating one of the major problems with the first generation of these sorts of headsets. That said, it’s still not close to totally filling your field of vision with holograms. Microsoft also boasts that the HoloLens 2 comes with a brand-new interface: you can use “intuitive” movements to manipulate the holograms as you would a physical object. Microsoft boasting that it’s more comfortable and easier to adjust.
Beyond the hardware, Microsoft is working to expand on the HoloLens ecosystem, and announced a partnership with Mozilla to bring Firefox Reality, a web browser designed specifically for augmented reality, to HoloLens. Microsoft announced the availability of HoloLens-friendly tools including Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, which allows a remote technician to see what the headset wearer sees and lend their expertise
US delay of tariffs on Chinese goods
U.S. has made substantial progress in our trade talks with China on important structural issues including intellectual property protection, technology transfer, agriculture, services, currency, and many other issues. It will be delaying the U.S. increase in tariffs now scheduled for March 1.”
Huawei's 5G foldable phone
Huawei has unveiled a foldable smartphone called the Mate X, four days after its major rival Samsung revealed the Galaxy Fold, the Huawei Mate X looks like a normal smartphone while folded up, but then unfolds to become a tablet-like device.
Its flexible OLED display measures 6.6 inches while folded up, and 8 inches when unfolded. That compares to the Fold which is 4.6 inches when folded up, and 7.3 inches when in tablet mode. The cameras are housed on a side panel. All of that means the Mate X does come for a massive price tag of €2,299, compared with €2,000 for the Galaxy Fold. Available for sale from the middle of 2019.
