1:
My life has been a trade-off
If I wanted to reach the goals I set for myself I had to get at it and stay at it eveyday
I had to think about it all the time .
I had to get up everyday with my mind set on improving something
I was driven by a desire to always be on the top of the heap.
2:
I want to do good
I want the world to be better because I was here
I want my life,my work and my family to mean something.
If you are not making someone else's life better then you are wasting your time.
Your life will become better by making other lives better
I want to represent an idea
I want to represent possibilities
I want to represent an idea that you really can make what you want.
3:
Don't ever let someone tell you that you can't do something.
You got a dream ,you gotta protect it.
When people can't do something themselves ,they are gonna tell you that you can't do it.
You want something, go get it .
Period.
4:
How do you know what's the right direction?
Ultimately it comes down to taste.
It comes down to taste.
It's a matter of trying to expose yourself to the best things that humans have done
And then try to bring those things into what you are doing.
Picasso had a saying : Good artists copy, Great artists steal.
We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas.
5:
I"ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career.
I've lost almost 300 games.
26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed
I've failed over and over and over again in my life
And that's why I succeed
6:
As a magician,I try to create images that make people stop and think
I also try to challenge myself to do things that doctors say are not possible
As a magician ,I try to show things to people that seem impossible.
And I think magic, whether I'm holding my breath or shuffling a deck of cards ,is pretty simple
It's practice ,it's trainning
And it's practice ,it's trainning and experimenting, while pushing through the pain to be the best that I can be
And that's what magic is to me .
So thank you.
7:
Then the time come for you to be your own man and take on the world and you did.
But somewhere along the line ,you changed .
You stopped being you.
You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you are no good.
And when things got hard ,you started looking for something to blame like a big shadow.
Let me tell you something you already know
The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows.
It's a very mean and nasty place
And I don't care how tough you are ,it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.
8:
You ,me ,or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.
But it ain't about how hard you hit.
It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward
How much you can take and keep moving forward
That's how winning is done
If you know what you are worth ,go and get what you are worth
But you gotta be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him or her or anybody.
Cowards do that ,and that ain't you .
You are better than that.
9:
I'm William Wallace
And I see a whole army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny,
You've come to fight as free men
And free men you are
What will you do with that freedom
Will you fight?
Fight ,and you may die.
Run ,and you'll live at least a while
And dying in your beds many years from now.
Would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that ?
For one chance ,just for one chance ,
To come back here and tell our enemies.
That they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom.
10:
We shall not flag or fail
We shall go on to the end
We shall fight in France
We shall fight on the seas and oceans
We shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air.
We shall defend our island whatever the cost may be
We shall fight on the beaches
We shall fight on the landing grounds
We shall fight in the fields and in the streets .
We shall fight in the hills
We shall never surrender
11:
I would say to the House as I said to those who have joined this government,I have nothing to offer but blood toil, tears and sweat.
We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind
We have before us many many long months of stuggle and of suffering.
You ask ,what is our policy
I will say, it is to wage war ,by sea ,land and air, with all our might ,with all the strength that God has given us ,to wage war against a monstrous tyranny ,never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime.
That is our policy
You ask what is our aim
I can answer in one word
Victory ,victory at all costs ,victory in spite of all terror. Victory however long and hard the road may be
For without victory there's no survival.
12:
These walls are funny
First you hate them ,then you got used to them
Enough time passes you depend on them
That's institutionalized
I guess it comes down to a simple choice ,get busy living or get busy dying
In 1966, Andy Dufrene escaped from Shawshank Prison ,all they found of him was a muddy set of prison cloth,a bar of soap ,and an old rock hammer damn near worn down to the nub.
I remember thinking it would take a man six hundred years to tunnel through the wall ,Old Andy did it in less than twenty.
13:
One summer his dad tore down a brick wall in the front of his business and told 12-year-old Will and his 9-year-old brother to rebuild it .
A job they said was impossible
It took them a year and a half, but they did it .
And he said:Now don't you ever tell me there's something that you can't do
You don't set out to build a wall
You don't say:'I'm going to build the biggest ,baddest ,greatest wall that's ever been built
You don't start there
You say:"I'm going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid
You do that evey single day
And soon you have a wall.
14:
I have a great time with my life ,and I want to share it
I love living
I think that's infectious ,it's something that you can't fake
Greatness is not this wonderful, esoteric elusive God like feature that only special people possess
It' something that trult exists within all of us.
It's very simple
This is what I believe, and I'm willing to die for it
Period
It's that simple.
I know who I am,I know what I belive, and that's all I need to know
From there, you do what you need to do
You know,
I think what happens is we make the situation more complex
15:
The seperation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams ,who want to do things.
Talent you have naturally
Skill is only developed by hours and hours of beating on your craft.
I've never really viewed myself as particularly talented
And where I excel is ridiculous, sickening work ethic.
You know, while the other guys are sleeping .
I'm working
While the other guys are eating
I'm working
There's no easy way around it
No matter how talented you are ,your talent is going to fail you if you are not skilled
If you don't work, study really hard and dedicate yourself to getting better every single day
You'll never be able to communicate your artistry to people the way that you want.
The only that I see that is distinctly different about me ,is that I'm not afraid to die on a treadmill
You might have more talent than me ,you might be smarter than me .
But if we get on a treadmill together, there are two things
You are getting off first or I'm gonna die.
It's really that simple
16:
Our feelings, dreams and ideas are physical in the Universe
If we dream something ,if we picture something, and if we commit ourselves to it, that's a physical thrust towards realization that we send out into the universe.
17:
