Act fast

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; ---2Peter1:5

Peter says, now that you have received the heavenly nature, so you must concentrate now and try to form the good habits. The meaning of “add” is in terms of the character. Whatever the natural or transcendental, human character is never born, he must be cultivated. Habits are not innate, so we need to form them through God’s new life. God’s meaning is not to ask us becoming a shining specimen, but showing the wonder of his grace in our daily life. The common worldly affairs are the touchstone of character. The great obstacle of the spiritual life is to do great things. “Jesus took a towel and washed the disciples’ feet.”

Sometimes, the life lacks the light, and there is nothing to be excited about, just day after day, doing ordinary work. But God has revealed it to us through his routine. Don’t expect God giving you exciting times every day; learn to live in a routine by God’s power.

“add” is difficult. We often say that we do not expect God to lift us up to the heaven through a comfortable sedan chair, but we do the opposite. No matter how little things we obey are, the power of God’s grace is behind me. I do my duty not because it is my duty, but because I believe in everything God has planned. Thus, when I obeyed, God’s transcendent grace came to me through the redemption.

Dear God, my spirit experiences your new grace, yet how slowly I grow in your mighty grace. Come upon me quickly, so that my experience today may extend like the nature to the great horizon.
