Trust and obey, that’s the best way!!

1 Corinthians 2:9 No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. 哥林多前书2:9 “神为爱他的人所预备的,是眼睛未曾见过,耳朵未曾听过,人心也未曾想到的。

A ministry in Africa saw a several boys played a soccer ball in the village, he saw the boy with the soccer ball approached him, and the soccer was little more than a bundle of old plastic bags tied up with strings. So, he asked him if he could trade it with a brand-new soccer ball. For a while this boy was puzzled and he realized that this would mean giving up the ball he already made and owned, he ran back to his friend and discussed this offer. Only when all had weighed in on the matter did he hand over his homemade ball for the shiny, new white one with emblazoned with a swoosh.

It was difficult for the little boy to imagine a ball that would be better than the one he had made with his own hands. That ball was familiar and he was comfortable with it, and it was hard for him to give it up. No matter how beautiful the new ball might be, the old one still had an allure he couldn’t quite shake.

A lot of people feel the same ways as the boy felt about his ball, especially when they sense that God is calling them to something new, they life what’s familiar, what’s comfortable, and they are reluctant to leave it behind, even if they are reasonably certain that what they should do is to follow God’s calling, they hang on to what’ s good things but missed something better.

It reminds me of the character of Abraham in the Bible, and he got this son when he was so old and he loved this son so much, but when God commands he offered his only son as a sacrifice. He obeyed. But as he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son, God stopped Abraham and he said: Do not do harm to him! Now I know that you have not withheld from me your son, your only son. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horn. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

Then God not only blessed Abraham's family, but also made Abraham a great nation: "because you have done this," declares the Lord, "and have not kept your son, your only son to me, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sands on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of the enemies.

Abraham was the one who really trusted and obeyed God, and we can see how he was blessed by the choice he made afterwards. As the Bible says “For his ways higher than our ways and his thoughts than our thoughts, just as the heavens are higher than the earth.”God alone is the one who holds tomorrow with all the power and authority HE is the almighty king who always provides!

Hence, trust and obey, that’s the best way!
