Do not allow past experiences to be imprinted on your mind. Perform asana each time with a fresh mind and with a fresh approach.

If we ever find ourselves apart from or superior to others, purer or more elevated by yoga, we can be sure that we are becalmed or even drifting back into a state of ignorance.

In yoga class, students often look so serious and separate from one another. Where is the friendliness? Where is the compassion? Where is the gladness? Where is the joy? Without these, we have not achieved the true yoga of Patanjali.

No doubt, one may say reading holy books is spiritual practice. But what I teach is spiritual practice in action.

毫無疑問,有人說閱讀經典是精神的修行。但我所教授的是在行動中的精神修行。

艾揚格箴言94:

It was my asana practice that kept me on track. I continued to adapt and transform my body to be capable of pranayama and so over many long years came to master it.

是體式練習讓我保持不偏離軌道。我不斷調整與改善我的身體以適應調息的要求,通過很多年的努力,成功掌握了它。

艾揚格箴言95:

Nothing pertaining to pranayama can be forced. That is why it teaches humility.

與調息相關的一切都不可以勉強,因為調息教會我們謙卑。

艾揚格箴言96:

We have seen that as leaves move in the wind, your mind moves with your breath. When breathe is regulated and pacified, there is a neutralizing effect the mind.

我們已經意識到正如風中的樹葉,心隨呼吸而動。當呼吸經調節、控制而平穩,對心有中和的作用。

艾揚格箴言97:

And when you hold your breath, you hold your soul.

當你掌控了你的呼吸,你就掌控了你的靈魂。

艾揚格箴言98:

While yoga may begin with the cult of the body, it leads toward the cultivation of our consciousness.

當然瑜伽也許從崇拜身體開始,它引導我們對覺知的培养。

艾揚格箴言99:

As we cultivate our mind, we are able to avoid the stress that would otherwise lodge in our mind, causing disease and suffering.

通過修養內心,我們能夠避免壓力在心中積累,壓力會引起疾病和痛苦。

艾揚格箴言100:

In our spiritual quest, it is required of us that we develop our body in such a way that it is no longer a hindrances, a drag, but becomes our friend and accomplice.

在我們的精神追求中,要求我們必須用一种方法來強壯我們的身體,使身體不再是我們的阻礙和拖累,而成為我們的朋友和同伴。

艾揚格箴言101:

Often one partner in a marriage will pursue yoga or another spiritual path, and they will leave the other partner behind. They must not.

通常婚姻伴侣中的一半修行瑜伽或者探求其他精神之道時,他們會把另一半落下。千萬別這樣。

艾揚格箴言102:

They must do whatever they have to in order to bring the other partner along or to always return to the other partner. This is the only way to keep the marriage strong.

他們必須盡其所能地帶上另一半,或者總能回到另一半的身边。這是維持婚姻始终不渝的唯一方法。

艾揚格箴言103:

As we practice yoga and begin to meditate, we develop equanimity. We let go of this ego.

隨著我們練習瑜伽和冥想,培養內心從容淡定。我們舍棄了小我。

艾揚格箴言104:

In yoga we consciously minimize our needs.

在瑜伽中我們有意識將我們的需求減到最小。

艾揚格箴言105:

Remember that yoga is not asking us to refrain from Joy. Draw in the exquisite fragrance of the flower. Yoga is against bondage.

要記住瑜伽沒有要求我們抑制快樂。全神品味花的美妙芳香。瑜伽反對束缚。

艾揚格箴言106:

All illness fragments and so whatever integrates also heals.

所有疾病分裂機體的功能,所以任何有助於機能合為一體,也可使之康复。

艾揚格箴言107:

In fact, the yogi's standpoint, practice and philosophy are inseparable.

事實上,對於瑜伽行者而言,練習與哲學是不可分離的。

艾揚格箴言108:

My life's work has been to demonstrate that from one's very first Samasthiti(standings still and straight) or Tadasana (mountain pose) in one's very first class, one is embarking on this task.

我一生的工作就是要表明從一个人第一堂瑜伽課上的第一個站姿或者山式開始,他就著手這項任務。
