【一词多义】you must be smoking你在抽烟？那你就错了！

我们知道smoke是吸烟的意思。

因为经常在公共场所看到吸烟的logo 写上No Smoking.

所以在问对方抽烟的时候通常可以这么表达：

Do you smoke ?

或 Are you  a  smoker ?

但是如果有人这么跟你说，就要注意了～

比如

1. Are you  smoking ?

2.You must be  smoking!

3.What are you smoking?

三句表达都是“你是不是傻”的意思。可别傻乎乎被戏弄了。

当然smoke除了抽烟还有其他的意思。

比如：

smoke and mirrors 巧妙的谎言，骗人的鬼话

There 's no smoke without fire.无风不起浪，事出有因。

blow smoke 字面是吐烟雾，可以意译为“蒙骗，说谎话”。

smoking gun  字面冒烟的枪，意译为“实锤”“确凿证据”

eg:

The smoking gun was the lipstick on his collar.

他的衣领上的口红是确凿的证据。
