B24181-Day2-New Hampshire Towns Turn out Tiny-home Dwellers

With the village owner of the “tiny house” community in New Hampshire planning to build more units, the authority takes a hand to ban the progress. This symbolises a disaster for the 25 residents living there, who after 12 years of living in peace and contentment will be unfortunately evicted. It results from the house, built illegally of even less than 400 square feet, which is charged for a host of building code violations.

Somewhere on the other side of the states happens the same situation in 2018 to another village owner, O’Brien. Her house was not livable as full-time residence for lack of occupancy permit due to the single exit and so on. The tricky thing was getting one was a Catch-22, since tiny houses cannot have building code but an occupancy permit, the one that normally complies with their building code. Therefore, she was evited in 2019 although the house still belonged to her parents’ property.

The event had caught the eyes of the lawmakers, who suggested that the economical tiny house should be allowed. But their sympathy for the residents did not work. On the bright side, the suggestion is not taken for a good point. Just because there is a market for these properties does not make the wrongdoing right, because a house without safety guarantee means a danger for their dwellers.
