英语屋第四期:on / in / at / by介词使用详解,再也不怕用错介词了(二)

周三。

这里是奶爸进击之旅——英语屋的第四期更新。

每逢周三累成狗,早上六点出门跑步,然后买菜、收拾、喂可可吃早饭,又出门带可可打疫苗,回来接着准备午饭,喂可可吃饭、收拾……直到将近两点才歇息下来。

之后又开始忙活其他事情,大小事务林林总总,源源不断,直到晚上八点,才有时间开始准备英语屋的总结。

你说当个奶爸容易嘛?

没办法,谁叫我是奶爸呢?

身为奶爸,就当有奶爸应有的觉悟,必须扛着肩上的责任向前迈进才行。

好了,言归正传,进入本期英语屋总结。

本期(2021年03月04日—2021年03月10日)英语屋总结如下:

一、地道口语表达:(蓝色字体为学习的内容,括号内容是我自己写的翻译)

1、Spring ahead, fall back.:(in America, people turn forward the watch one hour in spring and turn back one hour in fall )

2、How does that/it strike you?:(how about your first impression to the thing or person)

3、a little too~:(very ~  - indicate positive /  a little too~   between very~ from too~  /    too~  -indicate negative )

4、pushing up daisies:(died)

5、pick someone's brian:(ask someone's advice)

6、out in the sticks:(way far into the country)

7、a train wrack: (disaster,describe person)

8、when pigs fly:(that won't happen, imposible)

9、It'll never fly.:(It won't succeed.)

10、food for thought:(think carefully about it)

11、out of sight, out of mind:(when something or someone cannot be seen, it is easy to forget)

12、scramble:(hurry up)

13、right off the bat:(immediately)

14、a crook:( dishonest person)

15、feel stifle:(feel stressful)

16、one too many:(too many)

17、crack open:(open)

18、cut me some slack:(be less demanding of me,give me more freedome.    Opposite: hold the reins tight

二、语法部分:(介词的使用)

接着上期未总结完的部分,进入part2——关于介词在表示时间上的使用。

(二)Part 2:(介词 on / in / at / by  表示时间的使用)

1、in的使用:(period of time

in(seasons or months or even longer periods of time like centuries or decades or years——表示时间段,季节、月份、或更长的时间

I was born in 1986.

He'll visit them in October.

The ski resort is closed in summer.

He grew up in the seventies. (That's the period of time between 1970 and 1980.)

It happened in the 16th century.

Don't worry, it all happened in the past.

in(a period of time during the day when not specific——表示在一天内非具体的时间段)

They're leaving in the evening.The baby sleeps in the afternoon.

I work most productively in the morning.

in(describe the amount of time needed to do something——表示完成某件事所需的时间)

They managed to complete the job in two weeks.

You can drive around the island in a day.

in(explain when something will happen in the future——解释某事将来什么时候会发生)

I'll be ready in five minutes.He's gone away but he'll be back in a couple of days.

You can collect your parcel in a week.

in(referring to the middle of a period of time——指在一段时间内)

In the middle of June.It's too hot to go out in the middle of the day.

in(固定表达式——in time:及时   ——区别 on time:准时)

We made it in time.

Luckily, we arrived just in time.

2、on的使用:(with dates and named days of the week

on(days:specific descriptions of time——表示特定的时间类型,通常是星期几)

She's working on Monday.

We're going to the theatre on Wednesday evening.

Let's have a coffee on Friday morning.

It's his birthday on Saturday.

(注意:在口语中,以上介词‘on’通常可以省略)

on(dates——表示日期)

The interview is on the 29th of April.

He was born on February 14th.

on(specific days——表示特殊日期)

She was born on Valentine's Day.

We're moving house on Christmas Eve.

I have an exam on my birthday.

(注意例外 :

当谈及特殊日期期间时,使用的介词是‘at’:

Are you going home at Christmas?——表示的是圣诞节期间;

但如果是特指节日当天,则需使用介词‘on’:

On Christmas Day.

On New Year's Eve. ——特指节日当天)

on(固定表达式——on the weekend / at the weekend,意思相同

What are you doing on the weekend? (美式英语)

What are you doing at the weekend? (英式英语)

3、at的使用:specific times on the clock or points of time in the day

at(specific times:clock times——表示特定的时间:钟表时间)

The train arrives at 3:30.

The party starts at midnight.

The meeting will finish at 5:30.

at(specific times:day,meal times——表示特定的时间:一天中特定的时间或用餐时间)

He doesn’t like driving at night.

I’m going shopping at lunchtime.

I read my daughter a story at bedtime.

Let’s talk about it at dinner (time) tonight.

(注意记忆: at night / in the morning / in the evening / in the afternonn)

at(point in time——表示特定的时间点)

She's working at the moment.(当你要形容动作发生在现在这一刻,需要使用‘at’,而不是‘in the moment’)

She's a little busy at present, can I get her to call you back? (at present = at this time)

I finish the course at the end of April.(‘at the end of’ or ‘at the start of’ 也常常表示特定的时间点,但是,如果表示in the middle of a period of time,则需要用介词‘in’)

We arrived at the same time.

4、by的使用:(with specific end time, meaning 'no later than'

by(with the end time of an activity——表示活动的结束时间)

The show should be finished by 9pm.

by( on or before a specific time——表示截止时间)

Please return these books by Friday.

关于介词的使用还是要在长期的练习和阅读中不断巩固和加深,不可能一蹶而就。
