You can’t always catch every word like when you read one word message and when the conversation is very crucial, you may miss something important. Try to send word messages instead of voices messages unless you have to.

As for me, I seldom use voice messages and never send voice messages to unfamiliar WeChat friends. I might send voice messages to my very close friends when I’m walking or when they send me voice messages firstly. And the voice messages I sent was very short like 2 or 3 seconds.

Whether it is proper to send one voice message depends on the situation of the receiver and the relationship. If you can confirm the receiver is convenient and you’re in a close relationship, it’s ok to send voice messages. But be sure not to send very long voice messages.
