第2章优雅办公 第4节《平衡工作生活为什么很重要?》——流利说英语A+商务英语笔记

快乐工作,幸福生活

It's seven P.M. Jesse is very tired, so she's taking a break at her desk.

When she raises her head, Leon, her manager is standing beside her.

Jesse are you okay?

Yeah, I'm fine just a little tired.

It's been a long day, you should go home and get some rest.

Thank you, but I still have to finish this report.

It's due Friday, right?

But I want to finish it early.

Let it go for now.

I'm glad you're working hard, but you also need to have balance in your life.

If you spend all of your time at work, you'll get exhausted. I've seen it before.

What if I have a lot of urgent work?

That will happen often, but you'll still need time to recharge.

Spend part of each day away from your computer.

Doing a hobby or talking with friends, it will help you relax and sometimes even give you new ideas for your work.

That's great advice achieving work.

Life balance is hard, but make sure you keep some Jesse time in your day.

See you tomorrow. See you.

工作狂人&休闲达人

Stress is a feeling of worry caused by problems or difficult situations.

He is under a lot of stress recently.

It is necessary for employees to know how to handle stress.

Burnout is the state of being very tired or ill usually because of working too hard.

In a demanding job, many employees experience burnout.

A workaholic is someone who works very hard and can't stop working.

She is a real workaholic. I never see her take time off.

Being a workaholic does not necessarily make you successful.

Leisure is the time that you spend outside of work.

She plays piano in her leisure time.

We've been working all month without any leisure.

A workout is a period of physical exercise.

She does a 2 hour workout every Saturday for beginners.

It is better to keep workouts within 20 minutes.

People use entertainments to enjoy themselves.

There are lots of options for entertainment on the internet.

Reading is also a form of entertainment.

生活动作能平衡么?

Many people believe that we're happier and even more productive if we can achieve work life balance.

Some companies even make work life balance part of their culture.

For example, the American start-up Slack put the phrase "work hard and go home" on the wall of its headquarters.

However, other people think we can never maintain a balance between life and work.

With the development of communication technology, it has become hard to separate work from life.

Imagine when you come back home, you receive an urgent task from your boss on wechat.

Will you do it or not?

Some people also need more personal time than others.

For example, new parents often need to leave, work early to take care of their babies.

This can make work-life balance more difficult.

So perhaps there's no such thing as perfect work life balance.

We just need to know what is really important for us, whether that is our health, our family or our career.
