从前有一个女巫，她想要烤南瓜派。于是，她种下了一颗南瓜种子。她认真地除草、浇水，没过多久，一棵南瓜苗冒出了头。接着，一颗南瓜长了出来。它长呀长呀，长呀长呀，越长越大。
Once there was a witch who wanted to make pumpkin pie. So she planted a pumpkin seed. She weeded and watered, and after a while a sprout poked through. And then a pumpkin grew. And it grew. And it grew. And then it grew some more.
转眼间，离万圣节就只剩几个小时了。女巫惦记着南瓜派，她弯下腰，想把大南瓜从藤上摘下来。
Soon Halloween was just hours away. The witch thought about pumpkin pie and bent down to take her pumpkin off the vine.
瞧，她拉呀，拽呀，扯呀。她用力地拉，越来越用力，可那个大南瓜根本就没离开地。
“见鬼！”女巫说。
Well, she pulled and she tugged and she pulled. First she pulled hard and then she pulled harder. But that pumpkin just sat.
"Drat !" said the witch.
就在这时，来了一个幽灵。
“好大的南瓜！”幽灵说。
“没错，我种的南瓜已长大，可连着瓜藤摘不下，转眼万圣节就要到”女巫说着，踢了大南瓜一脚。
“我块头比你大，力气也比你大，”幽灵自夸道，“让我来试试。
“哼！”女巫有些不屑。但是一想到南瓜派，她还是让到了一边。
Just then, along came a ghost.
"Big pumpkin !" said the ghost .
"It's big and it's mine, but its stuck on the vine, and Halloweens just hours away, said the witch. And she kicked that pumpkin.
"I am bigger than you and stronger, too" boasted the ghost. "Let me try."
"Hmph!" said the witch. But she thought about pumpkin pie, and stepped aside.
幽灵弯下腰，想把大南瓜从藤上摘下来。
瞧，他拉呀，拽呀，扯呀。他用力地拉，越来越用力，可那个大南瓜根本就没离开地。
“见鬼！”幽灵说。
The ghost bent down to take the pumpkin of the vine.
Well, he pulled and he tugged and he pulled. First he pulled hard and then he pulled harder. But that purmpkin just sat.
"Drat!" said the ghost.
就在这时，来了一个吸血鬼。
“好大的南瓜！”吸血鬼说。
“没错，我种的南瓜已长大，可连着瓜藤摘不下，转眼万圣节就要到。”女巫说着，踢了大南瓜一脚。
“我块头比你们俩大，力气也比你们俩大，”吸血鬼自夸道，“让我来试试。”
“哼！”女巫说。
“哼！”幽灵说。
Just ther, along came a vampime. "Big pumpkin." said the vampire.
"It's big and it's mine. but it's stuck on the vine. and Halloween's just hours away," said the witch. And she kicked that pumpkin.
"I am bigger than both of you and stronger, too." boasted the vampire. "Let me try."
"Hmph!" said the witch.
"Hmph!" said the ghost.
但是一想到南瓜派，他们还是让到了一边。
吸血鬼弯下腰，想把大南瓜从藤上摘下来。
But they thought about pumpkin pie and stepped aside.
The vampire bent down to take the pumpkin off the vine.

Just then, along came a mummy.
"Big pumpkin." said the mummy.

瞧，他拉呀，执呀，扯呀。他用力地拉，越来越用力，可那个大南瓜根本就没离开地。
“见鬼！”木乃伊说。
The mummy bent down to take the pumpkin off the vine. Well, she pulled and she tugged and she pulled. First she pulled hard and then she pulled harder. But that pumpkin just sat.
"Drat !" said the mummy.
就在这时，来了一只蝙蝠。
“好大的南瓜！”蝙蝠说。
女巫没有说话。她看着幽灵，挤挤眼睛。幽灵看着吸血鬼。吸血鬼看着木乃伊。然后他们一齐看着小蝙蝠，哈哈大笑起来。
“也许我的块头不大，カ气也不大，”蝙蝠说，“可我有个好办法。”
蝙蝠把他的主意说了出来。
“哼！”女亚说。
“哼！”幽灵说。
“哼！”吸血鬼说。
“哼！”木乃伊说。
但是一想到南瓜派，他们还是弯下腰，想把大南瓜从藤上摘下来。
Just then, along came a bat.
"Big pumpkin," sald the bat.
The witch didn't say a word. She just looked at the ghost and rolled her eyes. The ghost looked at the vampire. The vampire looked at the mummy. They all looked at the little bat. And they started to laughe.
"I may not be big and I may not be strong" said the bat. But I have an idea . And the bat told them what to do.
"Hmph!" said the witch.
"Hmph!" said the ghost.
"Hmph!" said the vampire.
"Hmph!" said the mummy.
But they thought about pumpkin pie and stepped aside.
“一、二、三——拉！”蝙蝠喊道。
蝙蝠拽着木乃伊，木乃伊拽着吸血鬼，吸血鬼拽着幽灵，幽灵拽着女巫，女巫抱着大南瓜。
瞧，他们拉呀，拽呀，扯呀。他们用力地拉，越来越用力。
突然——
"Ready, set, pull" called the bat.
The bat pulled the mummy, the mummy pulled the vampire, the vampire pulled the ghost, the ghost pulled the witch, and the witch pulled the pumpkin.
Well, they pulled and they tugged and they pulled. First they pulled hard and then they pulled harder. And......
啪！大南瓜飞了出去！
Snap! Off came the pumpkin！
“见鬼！”女巫大叫。
嗖——！大南瓜飞呀，飞呀，飞呀……
"Drat !" said the witch.
Wloosh! It flew and it flew and......
砰！落到了一个小山坡顶上……
砰咚咚，砰咚咚，砰咚咚……它一蹦一跳地朝女巫家滚去。滚到家门口时，正好停了下来。
Thud! It landed on top of a hilll and......
Thump bomp, thump bump, thump bump. It bounced all the way down to the witch's house. And when it got to the door, that pumpkin just sat.
“蝙蝠，你太了不起了！”女巫喊道。她赶紧冲进屋去做南瓜派。
"Hurray for the bat ! " shouted the witch.
And she hurried inside to make pumpkin pie.
“唔，好吃！”幽灵说。
“再来点！”女巫说。
“实在吃不下了！”吸血鬼说。
“这次聚会真不错！”木乃伊说。
“该回去了。”蝙蝠说。
"Mmm," said the ghost.
"Have some more." said the witch.
"Couldn't eat another bite," said the vampire.
"Fun party," said the mummy."
“Time to go," said the bat.
“真见鬼！”女巫目送着他们离开。
然后，她径直走出门，又种下了一颗南瓜种子。
"Drat!" said the witch as she watched them all leave.
Then she went right out and planted another pumpkin seed.
