Responsibilities

1. At Manulife, data is a critical strategic focus.  Delivering the right solutions to ensure all levels of the organization are making data-driven decisions is key to Manulife’s success.
3. Business Intelligence (BI) is a foundational component of delivering the insights to our organization to meet this strategic pillar. This role will be critical towards execution of the priority to position Manulife as a digital customer leader by supporting a robust BI platform for various business reporting initiatives.

1. We are looking for the right individual who would be interested in the opportunity to support and enhance our BI capabilities, strong willingness to learn and build BI admin and delivery skills through team collaboration,  willing to help mature our BI practices, and is looking for an opportunity to embrace technical and operational role on the team.

Duties

• Administer and maintain Premium Power BI platform and data gateway and connections
• Propose and manage platform upgrade and other required configuration changes
• Contribute to a centralized documentation library for reusable content and materials
• Develop reusable training programs to follow BI Standards
• Reporting and monitoring where standards have not been followed
• Provide Power BI user guide, knowledge sharing, training and best practices
• Provide technical support including platform monitoring, optimization and troubleshooting
• Enhance automation processes for faster BI delivery
• Address users queries in relates to Power BI usage on Azure EDL platform
• Manage ADO internal Power BI dashboards incl Azure Control Center, etc.

Skills and Qualifications

• Data visualization tools, with preference on PowerBI
• Proficiency/experience in one or more of the following
• Big data tools, such as Azure Data Brick, Azure Data Factory
• Big data platforms, such as Apache (aka. Hadoop), Azure Data Lake Service
• Database languages, such as SQL, noSQL, postgres
• Establishing a semantic layer
• Ability to interpret and translate terminology between technical and business users
• Collaborate with geographically and culturally diverse teams across various geographies.
• Self-sufficient
• Proficient written and oral communication skills in the English language is essential

Education and experience

• Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science or Data/Engineering related courses
• 5+ years in one or more of the following
• BI Engineer
• Data Engineer
• Platform Engineer
• Systems Administrator
• Team lead or project management experience is an advantage
• Experience in insurance and/or financial industry is an asset
