当然比较繁琐一点的是用GRUB(如WinGrub和Grub4DOS等)修改MBR和配置文件,一篇介绍文字在此

删除一些不必要的程序,把文档资料拖到备份盘,做VM,重启安装Ubuntu,准备开虚拟机,第一个考虑装的是Windows 8 Developer Preview(这样最佳情况下Visual Studio也有了,不过是11; and unfortunately it is not run on VMware player which I can have for free on Linux, still I can wait till some updates come up to support it),就一路和Windows 7暂时说拜拜了。

After a few hours of struggles, I finally managed to install that windows 8 preview in a virtual machine, but it's known that only certain virtual machine applications support this, among them are oracle's (formerly sun) virtual box, VMware workstation 8. And it is sure VMware player (with workstation 8 equivalent engine) doesn't work with that. I'm using virtual box on Ubuntu which is free, and it is the first time I use the software, and I found it's fantastic and running absolutely well. Now I even doubt it outperforms in almost every aspects than VMware for a common personal virtualisation user. And it seems there's no difficulty installing such software as Tortoise SVN on the system and everything preinstalled on it is with its version ticked up by one. So far everything looks perfect and sound.

Generally, Linux applications are still craps; although I am aware of and appreciate the endless and so far successful effort Ubuntu has made to enhance the user experience and the integration of the interface. But there's still a long way to go. Linux does have some good applications to offer now and then. A typical instance of this is the media player set of banshee, movie player and vlc. the last one is extraordinarily excellent and outstands even on a windows platform, while the first two are just rubbish.

Unfortunately, migrating of the damaged windows 7 from physical machine to virtual basically failed; it did try to automatically fix the problem which is caused by the differences in running environment it has detected, however it never came through the process and ran into an irreversible state where there's no chance to fix it any more.
