UBCD for Windows Problem 002- 9 Apr 2008
Configuration: CPU: Pentium 4; 2.0 GHz Memory: 1.5 GB Hard Drive: G_Drive (77.5 MB free) – a partition on the second hard drive VGA Card: 256 MB Operating System: XP Pro SP2 (Slipstreamed) Anti-Virus AVG Pro 7.5 Firewall: Zone Alarm Pro 7.0 Problem: I have successfully built UBCD4WIN without adding plug-ins. How can I add the Acronis True Image Home 11 plug-in to UBCD4WIN312? Actions Taken: Searched Google and found the following articles: In “Getting Started with Acronis True Image plug-in” Acronis Technical Support lists the following steps: 1. Download Bart PE builder and install it 2. Unpack the Acronis True Image Plug-In for Bart PE and put it into BartPE plugin folder. 3. Run Bart PE builder. Input necessary parts and click the “Plugins” button. 4. Make sure you have Acronis True Image plug-in enabled in Plugins tab 5. Click the “Close” button on “Plugins” screen and launch BartPE CD image creation clicking the “Build” button on PE builder main screen. If you wish the image to burned to CD immediately after the ISO file is created, please check the “Burn to CD” box now and choose the appropriate burn; in the ISO file is created, please check the “Burn to CD” box now and choose the appropriate burner in the device menu. 6. After the image is created, burn it to CD (if you did not check the “Burn to CD” box. http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/support/bartpe 4/9/2008 I have successfully added Acronis True Image Plug-In for BartPE in the past. Now I want to add Acronis True Image Plug-In to UBCD4WIN. The post “Acronis True Image 11 plugin How to (reply by Tom K. to a post by MildBill)” lists the following steps: Just copy the complete plugin to the plugin folder in BartPE and UBCD4WIN and PEBuilder will recognize it. It’s not necessary to put it in the Commercial section for it to work. You don’t need any CAB file and you don’t use “Add”. If it doesn’t show up as enabled then Click on the “enable/disable” button in the plugin screen. http://www.911cd.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=20517 4/9/2008 Although this article applies to UBCD4WIN it is unclear where in the “Extracting, setting up and building UBCD4Win” sequence there is an opportunity to copy the plug-in to BartPE and UBCD4Win. If you have any questions or need more information, please let me know. Thank you. |

C:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\BartPE When you install acronis you should get a option to install the BartPE plugin, select to install it an then it's located here for V9, I would presume it will be in a similar location for V11. --------------------

Actually, I noticed with True Image 11, there is no BartPE plugin option during install, even with the 'Custom' install. I thought this was strange so I did some research. I found that by going to the Acronis site, logging into my account there, and looking under my registered True Image 11 product for updates/downloads, the plugin was available freely there. It's as simple as adding the files to a new folder in the plugin\Disk\Backup folder and then changing the menu xml to match our menu structure. The plugin was then enabled by default when I built the CD.

Hi All,
The plugin for TrueImage Echo Workstation and True Image Echo Server is in the installation folder. C:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageEchoWorkstation\BartPE. v11 should be there also.... We're talking about the Home version. I've had the Home version since version 9 and 11 is the only one so far that I've seen that didn't include it with the installation. :-\ -------------------- "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Albert Einstein "Computers are really strange - first everything works fine, then something goes terribly wrong and nothing works, and then - like a thunderbolt from a clear sky, everything is back to normal again. I never did like the plugin that Acronis included with its products.
I use Mustang's True Image plugin though. http://www.mechrest.com/plugins/ FYI, it is not free.. though it used to be. |

I've got the official Acronis plugin direct from the Acronis site on my downloads site now. Note that it requires you have True Image 11 Home already installed on the system.
Here's the link: http://downloads.littlbuger.info/index.php?dlid=898 I apologize for the slower downloads at the moment. I'm working on getting a new downloads server/system to fix this. -------------------- "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Albert Einstein "Computers are really strange - first everything works fine, then something goes terribly wrong and nothing works, and then - like a thunderbolt from a clear sky, everything is back to normal again. This thread is a little old now but found it doing a search. One of the changes ATI made in going from v10 to v11 is they now no longer ship the Plugin. It has to be downloaded from the site.
One other thing I am reading in other places that the V11 Plugin is actually the v10 Plugin. Could anyone who has it working(v11 that is) boot to your UBCD4Win, call up TI from the Plugin and check to see which version of TI is running? I am reading that it still shows as v10 and not v11. |

I just noticed LB's post about hosting the plugin on his server.
@LB Are you sure it's ok to redistribute this software? I couldn't find a download link or license terms on the Acronis website.

Who told you that? I just downloaded it from your download server, extracted it then copied the BartPE folder to my plugins folder and ran UBCD4WinBuilder.exe to make a new build. I have my new cd booted and just used Acronis to image my drive then restored it and I never once had to accept a eula nor did I see anything mentioned about needing to have anything installed on my hard drive... Is this plugin really freely distributable?

Thanks pcuser
I too got the MSI installer from the LB link and was able to extract the Plugin easily. I didn't know one could do that with the MSI but after a little searching I figured it out. Now I just need to add it to a UBCD4Win build. I for one am not sure how Acronis feels toward their BartPE Plugin and openly being shared. They say it is provided to Mustang but he only sells it for $1.99 so they must not feel to strongly about it's rerelease. |

Did you RUN the msi or EXTRACT it? I tried running it on a machine without TI 11 installed and it wouldn't let me do anything, so based on this, I figured it would be OK to distribute as it seems to require TI 11 to be installed for it to work. I also thought it grabbed files from the TI 11 installation on the system BartPE is being built on. If this isn't the case, then I'll need to contact Acronis about it. Thanks.
UPDATE: I've just confirmed what I said above. If you RUN it, it needs TI 11 to be installed on the system or it wont work. If you EXTRACT it properly, you get the full BartPE plugin without issue. Hmm.... If you're asking me I simply extracted the contents of the MSI. Run "msiexec /a (c:\path to msi)" Up came the installer and even allowed me to select where to place the contents.
Wonder what would happen if someone built their own TI11 Plugin and offered it? |
