The material status feature was originally developed for Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS). Since R12, the material status feature is also available in Oracle Inventory. Material status controls which types of transactions are allowed/disallowed for material and whether the material is reservable/included in ATP/nettable. Common material statuses include Active, Immature, Expired, Obsolete, Hold, Quarantine, and Rejected. Some of the most popular requirements for status control are whether or not material can be picked or shipped on an internal order, picked or shipped to a customer, or issued for a production job. In addition, some material may be quarantined until some activity such as inspection is performed on it. In R12, material status may be associated at the lot, subinventory, locator or serial number level and applies to all of the material in that lot, subinventory, or locator.Material statuses for serial numbers do not support planning attributes for performance reasons.
This feature is going to be an enhancement on top of the existing onhand material status functionality. Currently, the users do not have an option to specify the material status of the new receipt. With this enhancement, we are providing the users a flexibility to capture the material stauts in the UI itself while performing certain receipt transactions, which will ultimately create onhand records with the user-specified material status. Since, we are building this extension on the current framework, the technology would be the same. The back end APIs would be developed in pl/sql and the front end would use Oracle forms to support new UI changes.
