LIGHTING THE APOCALYPSE: Rendering Techniques in RedFaction

GDC2011的一个paper,主要是讲inferred lighting(主要好处是low resolution lighting buffer, translucency available)

Inferred lighting:

  • 可以让lighting buffer有更低的resolution
  • Rgb diffuse lighting, a—specular lighting brightness
  • 使用一个object id buffer,结合discontinuity sensitive filter来做不同resolution的lighting buffer的sample,就是判断如果是不同的object id就调整权重
  • 使用uv偏移的方式,用bilinear filter降低texture sample数量
