这个写法很有趣啊

* demise 一个意思是:终止,失败,倒闭

另外一个意思就是指死亡了(formal or humourous)。

注意在这个释义下demise可以有很多固定搭配。

e.g. his imminent/sudden/sad demise

* -monger 散布(无价值之消息)的人

第一种意思是“妄称,声称”,derogatory.

e.g. She still professed her innocence.

第二种意思比较中性:declare

e.g. She professed herself satisfied with the progress so far.

第三种意思:信仰

复合词词库。

e.g. crisis-ridden

* throes (尤指死亡前的)剧痛 e.g. death throes 临终阵痛

好了看了Annie的rebuttal我真的跪了...

太棒了简直。

其实一开始有一些类似Annie分析rebuttal的想法。因为本身作者一直在反驳那些doomsayers的logic errors啊,fallacy啥的。

只不过我的大脑太迟钝,不会做classification。

所以从现在开始学啦!

Still in need of improvement in comparison with Annie's.

I think the fundamental of this article is to counteract those logic fallacies in the Slate article.

Well generally the author mentioned a lot...

Yet my mind is really not clear enough

Maybe we'll see it later.


Day 22:

Humourous, succinct and well-organized. My first impression on this article.

I can barely find any complicated vocabularies in the article though all new for me :) which exactly speaks for its precise language.

Very brilliant.

It completely presents a significant trait of English composition: the variation of words.
