Adjectives

形容词

Adjectives are words that describe nouns or pronouns.

形容词是用来修饰名词和代词的词

Some common adjectives are:

例如：

excellent

happy

quick

slow

nice

great

Adjectives are placed directly before the noun.

形容词放在名词的前面

例如：

Bob is a happy boy.

That is a comfortable bed.

My mother is a good cook.

Adjectives are also used with the verb to be.

形容词经常也会放在名词+be动词后面

I am sad.

Joe is tall.

Pizza is delicious.

Adverbs

副词

Adverbs are words that describe:

副词可以描述动词/形容词/其他副词

例如：

verbs

run, jump

adjectives

happy, quick

other adverbs

happily, quickly

Adverbs look like adjectives, but usually have ly at the end.

副词看上去像形容词，经常是以ly结尾的

例如：

Adverbs can describe verbs

副词可以修饰动词

例如：

My brother ran quickly.

I read slowly.

He drove the car carefully.

Adverbs can describe adjectives.

副词可以修饰形容词

例如：

The students were extremely happy.

My sister is very smart.

Adverbs can be used to modify other adverbs.

副词可以用来修饰其他副词

例如：

The turtle walked incredibly slowly.

The rabbit ran very quickly.

Changing Adjectives to Adverbs

将形容词转换成副词

Most adjectives can be changed to adverbs by adding ly.

大多数形容词结尾加上ly变成副词

例如：

quiet - quietly

careless - carelessly

If the adjective ends in le, change it to ly

如果形容词以le结尾那要将le换成ly

例如：

possible - possibly

probable - probably

If the adjective ends in y,  change it to ily.

如果形容词以y结尾，我们将y用ily代替

例如：

happy - happily

angry - angrily

If the adjective ends in ic,  change it to ically

如果形容词以ic结尾，我们将ic用ically代替

例如：

scientific - scientifically

basic - basically

Irregular Adverbs

不规则副词

Some adverbs can’t be changed so easily and are irregular.  The most common ones are:
