1. Exert 施加

Exert on influence/pressure on someone 施加压力

E.g. Parents exert a strong influence on children's early life.


2. Sense (verb) 意识到;感觉到

E.g. She senses her boyfriend doesn't trust her.


3. Devil's advocate 故意唱反调的人;故意持不同意见的人

E.g. Some children prefer to play devil's advocates with their parents.


4. Immune (adj) 有免疫力;不受影响

E.g. She is immune to her teachers' criticism.

Eric is immune to beautiful girls.

5. Ingrained (adj) 根深蒂固的;日久难改的

E.g. It is hard for some senior people to change their ingrained habits.

Synonym: deep-rooted

E.g. The divisions between rich and poor in a country are deep-rooted.


6. Old habits die hard 难以改变;根深蒂固

E.g. Even though old habits die hard, you can do what you really want to do.


7. Cannibal (noun) 食人肉者;同类相食的动物

E.g. She is watching a movie which is all about cannibals.

Cannibalize (verb) 竞食,冲击

E.g. The Smartisan M1L is cannibalizing the market of Xiaomi's smart phones.
