Imagine you are going to live on a desert island alone for 3 days. You may choose some topics to talk about.
1. If you are allowed to bring three items with you, what are they and why?
2. How will you spend your time during the day?
3. Do you think you will enjoy the journey or not, and why?
4. Do you see it as an escape to the wild or a punishment due to the isolation from civilization?
I used to be a backpacker. I love outdoor activities like mountain climbing, hiking, and camping. There are some essential items you have to take, but if only three of them allowed, I will definitely choose matches/lighter first. Then I can light a fire, so there will be no darkness in the night. And I can cook some fish as well. (and scare off the dangerous animals if any). The second item should be a satellite ['sætəlaɪt] phone with the function of playing music and reading books, so I can contact with my family and friends from time to time, they won't worry about me. At the same time, I can enjoy the beautiful music or audio books anytime I want. By the way, the phone must be supported by solar charging system, without power-off problem. The last item I would like to take with me is a waterproof tent which will make me warm and comfortable. I can stay in the tent at night or whenever it rains or snows. OK, now I am looking forward the three-day holiday, when shall we leave for the desert island?
Q:Can you think of something people imagine to be good but in fact is quite the opposite?
Many people imagine that housewives lives a life of ease and comfort, they can get up any time they want without worrying about being late for work, and they can go shopping, or travel from time to time. Life is simple and good. While, the picture is quite the opposite, in fact. Housewife means you are doing a job 24/7, especially when you become a mother. There will be no weekends, no holidays. You really want to quit this job when your kid is bossing around.
Q: If you have to stay in a desert island for 300 days, who do you want to bring?
While, 300-days is really a long time. I will bring my best friend. We seldom have the chance for a long talk in recent years. But we used to hang out almost every day in school time, and after we left school, we wrote letters to each other frequently sharing all the happiness and sadness. Things changed a lot these years, both of us have to make efforts on work and family. If we can have a long holidays in a desert island away from work and family, it sounds great. We can chat about the books we read, the new friends we met, and the changes we experienced.
