A brief introduction:
I am studying Master of Social Work at Monash University. When I was attending the university in Taiwan, I started to love makeup because there were a lot of pharmacy and beauty shops in Taiwan. I learned how to apply makeup and choose makeup products from the internet by myself, from Weibo and YouTube, and tried to apply to my friends’ faces as well.
After I came back to mainland China, I became a part-time beauty advisor on MAC. In this job, I found myself loving to work with various colors and textures, and also help people to apply makeup and enhance their natural beauty.
My personality fits customer service: I am approachable and easygoing, love to talk with people, and can work collaboratively with co-workers.
My strength: 1. speak Mandarin and Hokkien, have a better understanding of customers with Chinese background; 2. always follow up the trend of makeup in China; 3. understand Asian girls’ faces and tastes; 4. a fast learner with approachable personality and a collaborate spirit.
What I can contribute to Chanel: multicultural contribution: 1. language ability 2. know how to serve Chinese customers or even East Asian customers;
others: my passion for makeup
It will be a great honor for me to work for Chanel. When I was a teenager, I already knew Chanel’s lipsticks. A Chanel lipstick means elegance, maturity and modern femininity for me. Chanel is always leading the trend of beauty industry, and also its culture has staying power, creating many classic products and never outdated in the industry.
Strength and weakness:
strengths: 1. speaking Mandarin and Hokkien, better understanding of Chinese customers’ needs; 2. always follow up the trend of makeup market in China in daily life; 3. know more about Asian girls’ faces and aesthetics, such as brighter complexion and trend of lip fashion (marsala 姨妈色: suits Asian people’s skin tone and fits for formal occasion; coral 珊瑚色: suits skin tone, lively, natural, feminine but not audacious; rosy mauve 豆沙色: suits skin tone, looks elegant, fits for formal occasion; dusty orange/burnt orange 脏橘色: very suits Chinese skin tone, looks a bit cool and rebel) and eye shadows (orange: sunset palette, rosy: tender look, neutral: easily apply and suits skin tone and eyes); 4. a fast learner with approachable personality and a collaborative spirit
weaknesses: 1. don’t have experience in working in australia, and should get more familiar with other races’ faces; 2. may encounter with culture shock in the workforce, but I will try to overcome the difficulties and embrace different cultures
History and corporate culture of Chanel:
history: From her first millinery shop, opened in 1912, to the 1920s, Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel rose to become one of the premier fashion designers in Paris, France. By the 1920s, her fashion house had expanded considerably, and her chemise set a fashion trend with its "little boy" look. Her relaxed fashions, short skirts, and casual look were in sharp contrast to the corset fashions popular in the previous decades. Chanel herself dressed in mannish clothes, and adapted these more comfortable fashions which other women also found liberating. In 1922 Chanel introduced a perfume, Chanel No. 5, which became and remained popular, and remains a profitable product of Chanel's company. In 1924, Chanel launched its first line of makeup, including lip sticks and face powders. Coco Chanel introduced her signature cardigan jacket in 1925 and signature "little black dress" in 1926. In 1927, Chanel created the first line of skincare.Most of her fashions had a staying power, and didn't change much from year to year -- or even generation to generation. She introduced pea jackets and bell bottom pants for women. She was still working in 1971 when she died. In 1978, Chanel created Ready-to-Wear line. Karl Lagerfeld has been chief designer of Chanel's fashion house since 1983.https://www.fragrancex.com/products/_bid_chanel-am-cid_perfume-am-lid_c__brand_history.html
In 2006, Chanel launched a new lipstick: Rouge Allure. 2009: Rouge Coco, to deliver a modern interpretation of the classic feminine essential.
culture: Real elegance, according to Chanel, came from feeling comfortable and free in one's clothes.
