1. Unrealistic 不切实际

E.g. Unrealistic expectations 不切实际的期望

It is unrealistic to expect her daughter to be a biddable kid.

2. Paradise 天堂

一般提到“天堂”我首先想到的是heaven

Paradise 有伊甸园的意思

3. Wretched 可怜的

E.g. She feels wretched because of her financial situation.

Synonym: pitiful

4. Coral 珊瑚

Coral 做形容词有珊瑚色的意思，女生常用到的：coral lipstick

5. Dinghy 救生筏，小船

6. Spear gun 捕鱼枪

7. Genuinely 名副其实的，真的 （注意跟genius区分开）

Genuinely 这个词很好用，比如说genuinely sorry可以不说very sorry

8. We sometimes imagine a desert to be a sort of paradise.

E.g. Methods are to be taken to reduce pollution.

非谓语的三种形式：动名词；过去分词；不定式

9. Most of us have formed an unrealistic picture of life on a desert island.

E.g. Most of us have formed an unrealistic picture of studying abroad.

10. The other side of the picture us quite the opposite.

Quite the opposite 完全相反，截然不同

11. An element of truth 基本事实

E.g. There appears to be an element of truth in his story.

12. Starve to death 饿死

E.g. Be starving 饿得很

13. Picture

E.g. Get the picture 明白，了解

In/out of the picture 在局内/外

Put sb in the picture 介绍情况，使了解情况

The big picture 大局

As pretty as a picture 美如画
