本节画风突变，Winston在阁楼被抓，关进了监狱，在监狱中各种煎熬，遇到了形形色色的人，普通罪犯，思想犯，Ampleforth ，甚至还遇到了因为说梦话，被自己女儿举报的Parsons，chinless man, skull-faced man , 直到后来O’Brien出现，Winston遭遇了一顿暴打。
