China’s men’s soccer team has surged into the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup with a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan on Wednesday. It is the first time in eleven years that China has reached the knock-out stage of the regional tournament.

Uzbekistan opened the scoring in the first half. But Chinese midfielder Wu Xi leveled the score in the 55th minute when he smashed home a loose ball in the box. Thirteen minutes later, a strike from substitute Sun Ke proved to be the decisive play.
